at a minimum you should be self isolating for 14 days. if you have a developing fever, shortness of breath and a dry cough you should seek a test, call a hospital or clinic first, don't just show up. if you test positive you need to inform all people that you have had recent contact with and continue to self isolate for 14 days until the symptoms disappear. if symptoms worsen you need to contact your hospital about admissionsShould i take precautions?
With the shortage of coronavirus testing nationwide, it may be difficult to know whether your loved one has coronavirus or another illness. So it’s critical to play it safe and not infect yourself and, in turn, others. The CDC suggests:
- Giving the sick person their own room to stay in, if possible. Keep the door closed.
- Having only one person serve as the caretaker.
- Asking the sick person to wear a face mask, if they are able to. If the mask causes breathing difficulties, then the caretaker should wear a mask instead.
If possible, wear a mask & get tested.
